We apply chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, microscopy, particle size techniques, physical characterization, physicochemical methods, surface analysis techniques to wide range of chemical testing & analysis applications. With a broad suite of analytical laboratory equipment available in accredited facilities, Intertek can act as a valuable third party resource for you, giving you access to state of the art equipment and operated by trained analytical specialists via controlled laboratory procedures. With our broad scope of analytical technologies our scientists deploy exactly the right techniques to respond to your testing needs including chemical composition analysis, elemental analysis, molecular structure elucidation, contamination detection, materials analysis and regulatory compliance testing such as REACH testing requirements.

Chromatography Analysis
A diversity of materials and products are tested by chromatographic techniques on a global basis, through the Intertek chromatography and molecular separations chemistry lab network. Our chromatography analytical techniques include Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography (LC, UPLC), Ion Chromatography (IC), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC, HTGPC). These techniques are used with a variety of detectors, sample introduction and pre-column modifications.
Spectroscopy Analysis
A broad scope of spectroscopic techniques are utilized everyday by our laboratories across many industry sectors. We use Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Attenuated Total Reflection Infra-Red Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), Raman Spectroscopy, UV-visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Far-Infra-Red and Near Infra-Red and Circular Dichroism (CD). For elemental information we use Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis (XRF).
Mass Spectrometry
In house we offer a range of MS techniques including; gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS, headspace, pyrolysis), thermal desorption (TD GC-MS), liquid chromatography mass Spectrometry (LC/MS, LC-MSMS, LC-MSn, UPLC-MSMS) with Electrospray and APCI interfaces, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP/MS, GC/ICP/MS), High resolution MS with Electrospray, EI, CI, DEI and DCI interfaces, Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption (MALDI) TOF Spectrometry, Gel-permeation chromatography (GPC-MS).
Microscopy Analysis
Microscopy analysis is essential to understanding the microstructure or nanostructure of materials, chemicals or products. Capabilities include Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), SEM with Energy Dispersive X-Ray analysis (SEM-EDX), Optical microscopy, Confocal Laser Scanning Raman microscopy CLSRM and Infra-red microscopy.
Thermal Analysis and Testing
Thermal analysis laboratory techniques include differential scanning calorimetry (DCS), differential thermal analysis (DTA), thermomechanical analysis (TMA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and pyrolysis combustion flow calorimetry.
